David Andrew Williams (born August 25, 1967 in Plainfield, New Jersey) is a former American ice hockey player who plays at the National Hockey League for San Jose Sharks and Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. Williams was recruited 234 overall by New Jersey Devils in 1985 NHL Entry Draft and played 173 regular season games in the NHL, scoring a total of 11 goals and 53 assists for 64 points and garnering a 157-minute penalty. Before turning pro, Williams played four seasons at Dartmouth College at Hockey ECAC, serving as team captain at the end of his career there. At Dartmouth, Williams is an All-American player. He also played university hockey for Choate Rosemary Hall prep school in Wallingford, Connecticut, and Chatham Township High School in Chatham, New Jersey. Williams was the first New Jersey-bred player to participate in the NHL game.
At Choate, Williams is also an All New England baseball player, but chooses hockey and does not continue playing baseball.
David Williams was elected to the New Jersey High School Ice Hockey Hall of Fame in 2012 for his achievements at all levels of ice hockey.
