East Falmouth is the census-determined place (CDP) in Falmouth town in Barnstable County, Massachusetts, United States. The town is located in the Massachusetts base of the "fishhook" peninsula ( see map on the right ). The population was 6,038 at the 2010 census, making East Falmouth the most populous of the six CDPs in Falmouth.

Geography

East Falmouth is located in the southeast of Falmouth on 41 Â ° 33-54? N 70 Â ° 33? 0? W (41.565096, -70.549984). It is bordered to the west by the village of Teaticket and to the east by the Childs River. The southern border is the Vineyard Sound beach.

According to the US Census Bureau, CDP has an area of ​​6.3 square miles (16.3 km 2 ). 5.4 square miles (14.1 km 2 ) of it is ground and 0.85 square miles (2.2 km 2 ) of it (13.54% ) is water.

Coastal Coast, formerly known as Jenkin's Neck, is one of the most populous neighborhoods in Falmouth, which has 905 homes. The Great Harbors is a private community located in Lewis Neck north of Acapesket and consists of 11 roads and nearly 400 homes. The Great Harbors Resident Association is a non-profit organization that organizes and manages communities, established in December 1966. The Great Harbors is a seaside community, with the longest path on the water, as well as a swimming/tennis/recreation complex and two docks. The Great Harbors is administered by a board of volunteer directors, elected by all members of the association at its annual meeting in June.

The East Falmouth area has two small non-census villages nearby. Hatchville is located north of East Falmouth, along Massachusetts Route 151 next to Coonamessett Pond, and Waquoit is located east, along Route 28 at the easternmost corner of Falmouth. Although not part of the East Falmouth CDP (and thus not included in the census calculations for East Falmouth), every village is under the jurisdiction of the East Falmouth postal service.

Demographics

At the 2000 census, there were 6,615 people, 2,828 households, and 1,923 families living in CDP. Population density was 468.6/km² (1,214.8/miÃ,²). There are 4,323 units of homes with an average density of 306.3/km² (793.9/miÃ,²). Racial makeup of CDP is 92.20% White, 2.92% African American, 0.48% Native American, 0.51% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Island, 1.68% of other races, and 2, 19% of two or more races. Hispanic or Latin of any race is 1.75% of the population.

There were 2,828 households where 24.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.6% were married couples living together, 12.7% had non-husbands female households, and 32.0% were not family. 27.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.6% had someone living alone 65 or older. The average household size was 2.32 and the average family size was 2.79.

In CDP, the population is spread by 21.5% under the age of 18, 4.7% from 18 to 24, 24.7% from 25 to 44, 26.1% from 45 to 64, and 22.9% years or more. The median age is 44 years. For every 100 women, there are 89.5 men. For every 100 women age 18 and over, there are 84.3 men.

The average income for households in the CDP is $ 42,788, and the average income for families is $ 48,302. Men have an average income of $ 36,884 compared to $ 26,875 for women. The per capita income for CDP is $ 24,041. About 6.2% of families and 8.0% of the population are below the poverty line, including 12.0% of those under the age of 18 and 4.6% of those aged 65 and older.
