Longleat Railway

It has a length of one and a quarter mile (2 km) through beautiful forest and along the shores of Lake Half Mile. The line has taken several different courses over the years, but the route along the lake remains consistent. After opening the railway was initially run by a Minirail outsourcer with a ten-year contract, which was not renewed due to differences of opinion between the two companies. After this, Longleat took over running the train in 1976. Many engines have been operating on the railroad for years, both steam and diesel; in 2018 the railway has three diesel locomotives. The train also has 15 carriages, all built in Longleat between 1976 and 2013 and wearing a clone of British Railways crimson and cream livery, along with some permanent way carriages. Between 2011 and 2017 trains are known as Jungle Express , with stations and carriages with additional themes.
