The Chrysler Voyager or Chrysler Grand Voyager (since 2011 re-labeled as Lancia Voyager in most of Europe) is a luxury minivan manufactured by Chrysler. For most of its existence, the vehicle that has a nameplate "Chrysler Voyager" has been sold exclusively outside the United States, especially in Europe and Mexico.
Voyager was introduced in Europe in 1988 as a rebadged version of Dodge Caravan and Plymouth Voyager sold in the United States, and has evolved with Caravan, Plymouth Voyager, and Chrysler Town & amp; Country since. The vehicle carrying the Chrysler Voyager nameplate was marketed in the United States from 2001 to 2003 as a rebadged version of Plymouth Voyager's short-wheelbase variant (SWB) following the 2001 division of Plymouth DaimlerChrysler AG division.
Along with the nameplate variants, Chrysler minivans rank as the 13th best-selling automotive brand worldwide, with more than 12 million sold.
The Chrysler Voyager Europe was first released in 1988, almost identical to its American counterpart, Plymouth Voyager; the only visual difference between the two is the head/backlight and the grille. In addition to slightly different appearances, European Voyagers are sold with different engines, including diesel engines, which are popular in Europe; and the trim is different. They are also available with manual transmissions and hand operated brakes with feet.
Chrysler Grand Voyagers Europe today is very similar to Chrysler Town & amp; Country car, and sold only in long wheelbase version (as in North America).
Although it is now produced only in Ontario, Canada, Grand Voyagers is still available with diesel engines as standard. This diesel engine is based on a standard double overhead common rail design from VM Motori from Italy.

Generasi pertama (1988-1990)
The 1988-1990 model sold in Europe is the Dodge Caravan which was renamed Chryslers. In America, the Caravans are sold with a colleague similar to Plymouth Voyager. Chrysler Voyager Europe is almost identical to the American Dodge Caravan except that the turbocharged four-cylinder engine and the 3.3 L Chrysler E V6 are never available.

This will be the last available generation with manual transmission. The 2.5-liter four-cylinder diesel turbo engine produced by VM Motori became available in 1994. There are also military modifications available for Voyager in South Africa, including large fuel tanks available in 240 and 360 liter capacities.

Third generation (1996-2000)
The 1996-1999 model in Mexico demolished Dodge Caravan, although the Caravan was sold alongside Voyager. For 2000, Chrysler Voyager is identical to Plymouth Voyager except that the 3.8 L V6 is not available for Chrysler Voyager. The basic Voyager model is offered in most states with a 2.4 liter L 4 cylinder or V6 Mitsubishi V6 engine, except in California and some northeastern states, where Mitsubishi V6 does not meet emission standards. In those places, a 3.3 L engine is offered instead. For the European market is offered also 2.0 L Straight-4 SOHC and DOHC engine and 2.5 L turbo diesel produced by VM motori. European market vans also come in a six-passenger model with six captain seats, not available elsewhere.

Security
According to the EuroNCAP collision test results, the 1999 Chrysler Voyager model did it so badly that it did not earn points, making it the worst of the group. The body structure becomes unstable and the steering column is pushed back to the driver's chest and head. The 2007 Chrysler Voyager model fared slightly better, reaching only 19% in the frontal impact test, with an overall score of 2 stars out of a possible 5. However, chest compression measurements on dummy tests indicate a high risk of seriously unacceptable or fatal injury. As a result, the last star in the adult passenger rating was attacked '.
Despite bad results in Euro NCAP crash tests, real-world statistics show that this is not the whole picture. Folksam is a Swedish insurance company that in May 2009 published a report on the injury and survival of 172 car models. Generation 88-96 gets real world "Average" ratings, and the 96-00 generation gets a rating called "the safest" (at least 30% safer than the average car.)
Fourth generation (2001-2007)
From 2001 to 2003, Voyager was only offered in the SWB model, replacing SWB Plymouth Voyager. It resembles City and Country more than the previous generation, the only major cosmetic difference besides trim (where City and State are fanciers) is the placement of Chrysler's emblem on the grille. After the 2003 model year, Voyager was discontinued (US market) and replaced by Chrysler Town and Country, SWB model. The SWB Town & amp; The state continues under the name Voyager in the Mexican market.

Year-on-year changes
- 2000 : Voyager is sold as Plymouth and as Chrysler, with the same options and features, but the Chrysler version has sticker prices of about $ 500 USD more.
- 2001 : The Chrysler Voyager is completely redesigned for this year just like any other Chrysler minivan. It is now only sold under the Chrysler marque; no version of "Grand" LWB sold. Some new features include side airbags and an optional navigation system.
- 2002 : Whether a VCR or DVD-based back seat entertainment system is a new option available for dealer installation on all Voyager 2002. High value entry-level models, eC are offered this year along with the base and LX models. All Voyagers 2002 now use four-speed automatic transmission.
- 2003 : The power adjustable brake pedal and accelerator are available in Voyagers 2003. The anti-lock brakes remain optional for upscale LX , but are no longer available for basic Voyager. Voyager terminated after this year and replaced by SWB City and Country changed slightly.
In Europe Chrysler began offering Voyager with the first generation, followed by a second generation model in 2001, with new engine ranges - including more economical and more economical diesel engines (2.5 L and for 2005 - 2.8 L 4 cylinders from VM Motori) and more fuel-efficient gasoline engines (I4 and V6).
The fourth generation Grand Voyager continued production for the Chinese market with Dodge Grand Caravan until the end of 2010. Both models were built by Soueast in China, using Town & amp; The country's production line is relocated from Taiwan, and powered by Mitsubishi 6G72 engines.
Fifth Generation (2008-2015)
Chrysler introduced the new Grand Voyager for 2008 and managed to position it in the automotive market as a luxury MPV that is suitable for large families. The Grand Voyager is visually identical to Chrysler City & amp; Countries are sold in the markets of North America and South America. In the same way as other large multi-purpose vehicles (MPVs) on the market, Grand Voyager is sold with standard diesel engines in Europe.
However, the seating is arranged in a general 2-2-3 (front to back) layout in North America, rather than the 2-3-2 layout often seen in SUVs and MPVs in Europe. On the right hand drive (RHD) the gear lever model is placed on the console mounted on the floor between the seats, in contrast to the position of the instrument panel found on the LHD model.

Lancia Voyager
All Voyager has been sold since October 2011 on the European continent sold under the Lancia brand.
Chrysler branded variants continue to be sold in the UK, Ireland, Russia, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Singapore, and China, because Lancia does not have sales operations in those markets. Voyager became the successor to the previously unrelated minivan series produced by Lancia, the latter being Phedra.
However, the parent company of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles under the leadership of CEO Sergio Marchionne has decided to close both Chrysler and Lancia brands from the European market (with the exception of keeping one Lancia model available for sale in Italy). Therefore, it seems that Voyager is also on his way out of Europe.
European machine
The Lancia version is offered with a machine that complies with the Euro V emission standards.
Security
Seating feature
The Chrysler Voyager has incorporated a variety of seating systems for their minivans to enhance interior flexibility.
Integrated child safety seat
In 1992, Chrysler introduced a second-stool bench that combined two child booster seats. This chair continued as an option available until the fifth generation until it was discontinued in 2010.
Easy Out Roller Seats
In 1996, Chrysler introduced a seat system to simplify installation, release, and repositioning - marketed as the Easy-Roller Roller Seat . The system remains in use throughout the life of Chrysler Voyager .
When installed, the seats are attached to the striker mounted on the floor. When unlocked, eight rollers lift each seat, allowing it to be rolled forward and backward. The track has a deposition of the locator for the roller, thus allowing simple installation. The ergonomic lever on the backrest removes the floorless hook and lifts the chair to the rollers in a single motion. In addition, the seat back is designed to fold forward. The seat roller tracks permanently attached to the floor and seating are lined up, facilitating the longitiudinal round of seats. Bench seat stanchion is moved into the aircraft to reduce the flexural pressure on the seat frame, allowing them to become lighter.
When configured as a two-and three-person bench, the Easy Outable Swivel Chair can be heavy. Beginning in 2001, second and third row seats became available in a 'quad' configuration - bucket seats or captains in the second row and third row of three-person 50/50 split "benches" - with each part weighing under £ 50 23 kg).
Sitting Stow'n Go
In 2005, Chrysler introduced a second and third row seats system fully folded into a sub-floor compartment - marketed as a Stow 'n Go seat and exclusively available on long wheelbase models.
In a $ 400 million development program, engineers use a regulator that initially helps visualize the complex interaction of the design and redesign the under-floor components to accommodate the system - including spare tires, fuel tanks, exhaust systems, parking brake cables, rear control lines climate, and rear suspension. Even so, the new seating system precludes the inclusion of the AWD system, which effectively terminates the option for Chrysler minivans.
This system in turn creates a combined volume of 12 cubic feet (340 L) under floor storage when the second row seats are deployed. With both lines folded, the van has a flat load floor and a maximum cargo volume of 160.7 cubic feet (4,550 à ° L).
The Stow 'n Go system received "Best of What New" from Popular Science Magazine for the 2005 award.
The Stow 'n Go system is not offered on the Volkswagen Routan, a variant of a name plate torn down from a Chrysler minivan.
Swivel 'n Go Seating
Chrysler introduced a seating system in 2008, marketed as Swivel'n Go . In the seating system, two second row seats are full-sized swivel to face the third row. A removable table can be placed between the second and third row seats. The Swivel'n Go seating system includes the third row seat of the Stow'n Go system.
All these 'Swivel Seats' are manufactured by Intier Corp, a division of Magna. Tracks, wakes and rotary mechanisms are assembled by Camslide, a division of Intier. The rotary mechanism is designed by and manufactured by Toyo Seat USA Corp.
This system is famous for its high strength. The entire load of chairs in case of a collision is transferred through a rotating mechanism, which is almost twice as strong as the government's minimum requirements.
Rotation mechanisms include bumpers that stabilize seats when in key positions. When rotated, the seat is detached from these bumpers to allow for easy rotation.
The seats are not meant to be left in an open or rotating position with the occupants in them, although this will not damage the rotating mechanism.
Worldwide production
In its early years of marketing, Voyager was produced in North America and exported to Europe (1988-1991).
In 1991, the first Voyager was produced in Austria, at the Eurostar plant near Graz. Eurostar is a joint venture between Chrysler and Austrian company Steyr-Daimler-Puch. It was later acquired by DaimlerChrysler and eventually the factory was sold to Magna Steyr in 2002. Minivan production ended there at the end of 2007. Units produced in Austria are marketed in Europe, Asia and Africa. They are built with gasoline and diesel engines, with manual transmission versions, in short wheelbase versions (SWB) and long-wheelbase, and in right and left drive versions (all sold as Chrysler Voyager).
Fifth generation Voyagers (2008-2011) have been exported to Europe from Windsor, Canada, where they are manufactured. Starting in October 2011, they are exported and sold as Lancia Voyager in most European markets, as Chrysler's operations are merged with Lancia in many European countries. In the United Kingdom, only Grand Voyager is marketed.
Since 2011, Voyager is sold under the Lancia badge in Europe to strengthen Chrysler-Lancia integration, although it remains labeled as Chrysler Voyager in the UK and Ireland. In March 2015, Fiat Group announced that in 2017, Chrysler will be discontinued in the UK. It was removed from the Chrysler UK website in January 2016.
