North Kingstown is a city in Washington County, Rhode Island, United States, and is part of the Providence metropolitan area. According to the 5-Year Estimate of the American Society of Surveys 2015, the population by 2015 is 22,358. North Kingstown is home to the birthplace of the famous American painter Gilbert Stuart who was born in the village of Saunderstown. Inside the city is Quonset Point, the site of the Quonset Station Air Quickset, known for the discovery of Quonset hut, as well as the Davisville neighborhood, the site of the former Navisville Navy Construction Establishment Center.

Histori

The town of Kings Towne was founded in 1674, by the colonial government, and includes the current towns of North Kingstown, South Kingstown, Exeter, and Narragansett. In 1722, Kings Towne was divided into two parts, North Kingstown and South Kingstown, with North Kingstown, having the earliest settlement, retaining the date of the founding of 1674. In 1742, the town of Exeter was taken from the western part of North Kingstown.

Geography

City's racial makeup is 95.71% White, 0.97% African American, 0.55% Native Americans, 0.95% Asia, 0.03% Pacific Island, 0.53% of other races, and 1.25 % of two or more races. Hispanic or Latin of any race is 1.77% of the population.

There are 10,154 households where 35.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 40.6% are married couples living together, 46.5% have unmarried female households present, and 28.0% is non-family. 22.5% of all households consist of individuals and 8.2% have someone living alone 65 or older. The average household size was 2.57 and the average family size was 3.03.

In the city, the age distribution of the population showed 26.0% under the age of 18, 6.0% from 18 to 24, 29.6% from 25 to 44, 26.6% from 45 to 64, and 11.8% 65 years or older. The median age is 39 years. For every 100 females, there are 93.9 males. For every 100 women age 18 and over, there are 89.6 men.

The average income for households in the city is $ 83,887 (adjusted for inflation), and the average income for families is $ 97,208. Men have an average income of $ 28,883 against $ 25,712 for women. The per capita income for the city is $ 39,324. Transportation

Wickford Junction is a terminal station on Providence/Stoughton Commuter Route, providing weekday service to Providence Station and South Station Boston.

Destination
