The Port Authority of Jamaica (PA) is an agency of the Ministry of Transport and Employment responsible for:
- regulation and development of Jamaica's port and shipping industry
- the security of all vessels navigating the entry port
- the tariff setting on goods passing through the public dock.

History
The Port Authority was established as a legal company under the Port Authority Act, 1972. A Free Zone and Distribution Hub for America is currently under development. Since 2008, Kingston Harbor has started expansion to upgrade its facilities in response to Panama Canal Expansion. Ultimately, Jamaica hopes to become a major transshipment center in the western hemisphere and become a developed country.
The Port Authority recently opened a new port for cruises in Falmouth, Trelawny. New Falmouth, Jamaica Harbor call is home to many merchants and cruise lines such as Royal Caribbean allowing many tourists to enjoy the harbor and the natural beauty of the surroundings of Jamaica. The Port Authority also invites Air Ambulance Jamaica to monitor and provide emergency services to any tourist or locally with any medical condition.
