Saint Ann is Jamaica's largest parish. The city is located on the island's north coast, in the Middlesex region, roughly between the eastern and western ends of the island. This is often called "The Parish Garden of Jamaica" because of the beauty of its natural flower. The capital is Saint Ann's Bay. Saint Ann consists of New Seville, the first Spanish settlement in Jamaica.
Saint Ann is the birthplace of reggae singer Floyd Lloyd, Burning Spear, Busy Signal, Bryan Art, Romain Virgo, Chezidek, Shabba Ranks, Justin Hinds, Perfect (musicians) and Bob Marley. Marcus Mosiah Garvey, one of the seven National Heroes of Jamaica, was also born there.

Histori
St. Ann is one of the oldest populated areas on the island of Jamaica tracing back to 600-650 A.D. It is believed to be the earliest Taino/Arawak settlement in Jamaica. When Christopher Columbus first came to Jamaica in 1494, he landed on the banks of St. Louis. Ann in Discovery Bay, Jamaica. He returned to Jamaica on his fourth voyage and was finally stranded for a year at St. Ann's Bay (June 1503 - June 1504), which he calls Santa Gloria. The first Spanish settlement in Jamaica is also in Sevilla la Nueva, now called Sevilla, just west of St. Bay. Ann. Founded by Juan de Esquivel, Jamaica's first Jamaican Governor, St. Ann's Bay became the third capital founded by Spain in America. The first sugar factory was founded by the Spaniards at Sevilla la Nueva before 1526.
After 1655, when the British captured Jamaica, St. Ann's Bay is gradually developed as a fishing port with lots of warehouses and docks. Parish St. Ann was later named after Lady Anne Hyde, first wife of King James II of England. Ocho Rios began to develop as a modern city and favorite tourist destination in Jamaica. The development began when Reynolds Jamaica Mines built an inner dock, west of the city to deliver bauxite ore from the mine.
In 1960 the Development Council of St. Ann embarked on the systematic development of Ocho Rios creating a modern city.
